I want to extend the Required Field Validator so that I can apply CSS conditionally to the associated Control: I have two CSS classes - one for mandatory fields, and one for missing mandatory fields (when the validation fails).
Ideally, I would like to implement this with just the built in RFV's, but from what I've seen so far, this doesnt appear to be possible.
I did find code on the web that was hooking up to the submit event and checking each of the objects in Page_Validators in order to check the validity, but this doesnt fit my purposes for two reasons: It only sets the colours when the validation fails - I want it set on page load, and when the validation passes; It doesnt differentiate between RFV's, and the other validator types.
I suspect that simply hooking up to the RFV isn't possible. Another alternative is to extend the CustomValidator, and provide standard code for the Client Side validation event. However, I've heard that this doesn ...
