Programming - good practise query

Hi,

I have the following query that I am a little confused about! : is the following good practice - using the postBackUrl attribute to post back to same page rather than onClick event in some cases??

I am currently using the postBackUrl on a linkbutton control for posting data back to the same page. I am finding that this is more efficient for the particular web page that I am developing rather than using the onClick control which would automatically postback to the page. However this seems less efficient for me for this webpage as the Page_Load subroutine executes first followed by the onClick event - I would then need to execute/call the Page_Load subroutine  again in order for the code in the Page_Load subroutine to take into account values set in the onClick event. 

It appears to be more efficient to me - is this considered to be ok?
