I have a page that passes data to a payment gateway via some hidden items on a "traditional" form with a submit button. The Form method is set to "POST" and the action set to the payment gateway's URL. However what I'd really prefer to do is execute ASP.NET code server side as soon as the user decides to do the submit. The kind of solution I have in mind is one whereby the user clicks the button which passes control to code on my server which updates the database and passes control to the payment gateway without any further user intervention. A server-side submit I guess.
