I am developing a ASP.NET 4 website that has to authenticate a user based on a certificate installed on the client computer.
The scenario is so:
- user goes to the login page of the website. (www.url..../login.aspx)
- user clicks some button "Login using digital passport".
- website reads the user certificates, finds the one he is looking for and than authenticates against a LDAP server.
All of this works fine on the developing machine in the virtual IIS of Visual Studio 2010. The certificate is installed on my development computer where the virtual IIS runs.
However, when we deploy on an Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7, the code of the login.aspx page cannot find the user certificate anymore.
How can I retrieve the certificates from the computer of the client in an ASP.NET application?
