Authorisation for directory in config file

I am trying to set up password protection on a directory in my website using authorization in my web config file. It's working perfectly through visual studio but when I transfer my files to the remote server it fails. The login page does not display and the user is allowed access files in the protected directory without being redirected to the login page first. Here is my code from my config file:
