CreateUserWizard control, Roles, and Membership

The standard CreateUserWizard control will add a user to the aspnet_Users table but it doesn't offer the option of associating the user with a role and adding them to the Membership table.  Is there an easy way to extend the default CreateUserWizard control to assign the new user to a role and add him or her to the Membership table or is this something that needs to be hand-written?  Is there a tutorial on this somewhere or a prebuilt control that does it all?
