Made numerous attempts to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express (x64; with tools) on a laptop running Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit with 8GB RAM and more-than-sufficient hard drive space have failed. The image on this PC is very generic, nothing much running just
very basic programs.
The main failure message is this: "An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007000B)"
I am not sure at this point what to do next.
