I am working on a system that has two parts. One is a C++ application that controls and gathers data from various industrial automation devices. The second piece is a website that displays the data and is used to control the functioning of the devices via the C++ application.
I need to communicate updated data between the two components. I need the C++ application to push data to the webpages in such away that the webpages will automatically detect there is new data and refresh its pages without having to manually query the C++ application or a database to see whether there is any new data.
The website needs to then be able to push data back to the C++ application and use this data in invoking functionallity with the C++ application.
What is within ASP.Net that could accomplish this? If there is not anything within ASP.Net that will do this, what other technology could be used?
