best way to move files

I have 3 folders called "Recent", "Older" and "Archive". Recent contains documents that are less than 6 months old. Older contains documents that are less than 2 years old. And Archive contains documents that are more than 2 years old. What is the best way to move files from 1 folder to another. Lets say I upload a document today and it goes into "Recent" folder ( i can choose which folder the document needs to go into). After 6 months, I need to move that document from Recent to Older directory. What is the best way to move files from 1 directory to another? Would a batch file work? Thanks in advance
