I'm designing an app to store our staff IT preferences and came up a formView with a checkboxlist to store multiple values. The TypeCheckBoxList has many items (C#, VB.NET, Java, Perl, PHP, Python). I figured I would store the values in 1 column only: Types as comma separated values for ease of use after looping through each control selection. ie column Interests (VB.NET, Java)
Ok, I managed to insert user preferences in the column. ie Types (Java, C#). Now how do I go about retrieving the values and displaying them back in the CheckBoxList control on my Formview Edit and read templates?
For this, I have created TypeCheckBoxListEdit (for when in edit mode) and TypeCheckBoxListRead (for when in Read mode) controls and as you can see from the code below I'm trying to sort of manipulate these with code on page load (see Ex 1)
My question is: how do I retrieve these comma separated values to display ...
