I have been looking at this for days and I have no idea what is going on.
I am writing a web application for a client. They are running Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7. I am developing on my local server which is running IIS6. When doing my forms authentication testing, everything works beautifully. I am authenticated correctly if my username and password are correct and denied if they are incorrect. When I publish the application on the client's server and try to access the site through a VM, it also authenticates correctly. But if I try to access the site via the VPN, it will not authenticate. As a workaround, I have told IIS7 to not use cookies. This, however, inserts a bunch of garbage in my URL which is not acceptable. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? I would greatly appreciate the help.
