I have encountered multiple errors trying to install SQL Server 2008 R2 under Windows 7 Pro x64. I will no doubt eventually work my way through them, but I have to question the quality of development on this product. The number of multiple-layer
entanglements that have to be sorted out and the obtuse, complex collection of tweaks between Windows security, Dot Net Framework, etc., indicates a product that has been randomly developed by a lot of people who don't seem to talk to each other much.
The number of threads when you search the Internet for answers, and the multiple-step answers and reference to obtuse supporting fragments and files given by the Microsoft staff are testament to my own observations.
I have been in database technology since the 1970's, worked as a developer, CIO, then as a sales rep for 2 major software firms. It shouldn't be this complicated to use your product.
