I'm looking for ideas with the following design issue so any advice would be appreciated.
I have some products where the product image is hosted externally on the site where they originate. Like this:
http://www.anothersite.com/product1.jpg
I want to incorporate these into my site and will therefore need to constrain the size of the image (height and width) so it fit's in with my design.
As I see it I have 2 options;
1) Collect the images, resize them and save them locally
2) Reference the image and resize it on the fly
Obviously option 1 will take the most programming effort and maintenence, so I am eager to explore the possibilities with option 2. One of the main issues would be that I'm not in control of the availability of the image on the doner site but then again if the sites not available this is a much bigger issue.
