I am just starting with asp.net and want to make sure I am using the proper version. When I open the asp.net tab in the iis snap in, it gives me the option of using versions 1.1.4322 and 2.0.50727. If I go to windows update, it allowed me to download sp1 for .net 3.0, but that's it. I don't see anything related to 3.5. Which version should I be running for local development and why?
I am on windows xp with iis 5.1. Is .net 3.5 only for different versions of the os or server?
