I have a website that currently uses the MembershipProvider (asp.net webforms) to authenticate users. I want to migrate this site over to MVC4 but I am struggling to get my head around the new authentication model.
I love the idea of being able to log in using OAuth providers but I need to control who can register with the site. Use case is that of a private members website. We have public content but also private content that can and should only be viewed by approved members.
In the new model/schema I do not see how I can verify a users account before they can log in? Any ideas? I have tried to implement a new class that inherits from the ExtendedMembershipProvider but I don't see how this integrates with the OAuth external providers login functionality.
