Performance Issues when dropdown list is loaded in datagrid.

I am facing huge performance issues when i load drop down list to datagrid. The dropdown have 600 records. I am showing 10 records at one time in the grid. If i comment out this code, it takes 4 secs to load the page, other wise it takes 20 sec. please help me,
This is what i do
