I added 2 textboxes to the page, a grid and an accessdatasource control. I've also added 2 parameters to the filterparameters property of the accessdatasource control which get theire values from the 2 textboxes (the only difference is that I've added all the controls by using tags instead of code but this should not make a difference).

I've noticed that when one of the textboxes has no text, the parameter associated with that textbox gets a null for it's value. this is bad because (internally) the filtering is only done if none of the parameters have null value. I've also tried to set the defaultvalue of the parameters to an empty string. however, this didn't work (the parameters were still being passed as null).

the only way I found to solve this was to handle the filtering event and make sure that all the parameters had a non null value. This all works fine.

But i don't know how to use this code if i use textboxes ...
