Create PDF from data or html Text

hi
i want to learn how can i create pdf to download from a data that comes from db or xml, or it can be a html text. When i click the button DOWNLOAD PDF it will create a pdf first from the data or text then let the user download that created pdf.
 
is there any code sample or something?
