Modal Pop Up Question

Hi,
On my page load I would like to open a modal pop up. There is a condition to pop this modal:
There is a table which keeps username and count. This popup should display if the user is in this table and the count is 0. So if pop up modal pops I need to update this count to 1 in order not to pop this modal next time.
How can I implement this?
