Is there some way I can Identify an anonymous user ???
The reason I ask is when a user adds a product to thier shopping basket I want to add it to a sql table so that we can monitor what products have been looked at and also when they return they can view the last items they looked at. This is fine if the user is logged in as I use thier User name to log it in the table, but if the user is not logged in I need some sort uniquiekey that I can store in my table, I have used Cookies which is fine for the user side but I need to store a value in the table to watch for new customers and returning customers.
So my question is, is there a unique key (unique to the PC viewing the page??? maybe) that I can store in the sql table ???
