Data binding / query issues

 Hi i am very new to asp
  Im just trying to get some data from a database and populate a grid.
   1     From server explorer I drop a table onto the default page
   2    Configure the data source select some fields up to test
   3  "Test query", which throws an error  Invalid object name:  "The table being selected from".
 VS is quite happy to query the data from the enviorment "server explorer". Im using 2008 VS with 2005 sql on Vista, Ive written no code or sql on the project.  I think the problem is with the configuration my environment I would be very grateful of help.
