Here my problem is. I need to save CV information entered by a user to the database. CV has several static fields (First name, last name and so on) and may have custom fields. These dynamic fields can be added and removed by the administrator. I decided to store information about these additional fields (FieldID, Field name and data type) in one table and values (CVID, FieldID, FieldValue) of them in another one. So I have
CV: CVID, FistName, LastName, Position ...
FiledInfo: FieldID, FieldName, DataType
FieldValue: CVID, FieldID, FieldValue
Is this a good design? How would you do this?
And second problem is how to display these fields on a page. All I have thought of is to look in the FieldInfo table and dinamically add appropriate controls to the page. I don't know why but it seems to be very stupidly... And in addition we have to store fieldID somewhere on the page to determine which field is stored in ...
