Help. Can I make 2 remote calls consicutivly? or must 1 return and then make the other one?

I am just starting to discover the magic of AJAX and am loving it but I am still quite green.

I need to know if I can make 2 remote calls to a page method or a webservice in a row, consecutive? like that:
