Using Profiles in Postgresql

Hi There;
I am not sure whether here is suitable place to ask , but I 've problem.
I am using postgresql as a database, because I didn't manage to install ms sql to my computer, it raises dll and version problems, so I am using postgresql.
I create a web site and I need implementing personalization, so I would like to implement profiles in ASP.net.(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2y3fs9xs%28v=vs.100%29.aspx)
I find a resource about configuration database for profiles in a book,  but it describes it for ms sql. How can I implement profiles in postgresql? Where are the suitable resources for it? Thank you in advance.
