Adding hit counter to page wo db

Hi, Ive been asked to add a hit counter to the page im making. Its in VB script. I found code that should work in someones post but not sure how to impliment it to my page. Im still a beginner. Code that I found is below, and I would also like the hit count to appear on the page. Thanks

Put a file on your root dir and name it counter.txt 

Add a label on your page and write in Page_Load event
