VWD 2008 Express.  Visual Basic.

I have an aspx page that displays variable data depending on what the user selects from a dropdown list.  When the user selects from the list, the list control returns a key that I use to look up data in a number of SQL tables.  I thought that rather than having to do multiple SQL queries each time the user makes a new selection that I would store the three SQL tables ONCE in Gridviews (which are bound the SQLDataSources) and then retrieve the data from the gridviews rather than through a SQL query to the tables.

I made the gridview visible="false" so they are not seen.  However, I am able to retrieve the data I want and things are functional.  Now my question.

Do these gridviews repopulate (go out and query the SQL tables and reload the gridview contents) each time the page refreshes (posts back)?  If so, is there a way to just fill these tables once and not have them repopula ...
