Page.IsValid and TextChanged event

Hello,
When I test Page.IsValid in TextChaged event (of a TextBox control), an exception is made: "Page.IsValid cannot be called before validation has taken place."
 Why? I thought that validation stage is performed before event handling as it occurs with a click event for a button control.
