Over the course of yesterday and today we got a bunch of public site errors. I am trying to determine if these are hacking attempts. Recently, we have been getting a lot of spam mail from porn and pharmaceutical sites through one of our registration forms (we are planning to add Captcha in the near future). This time around, the errors we are getting are "This is an unclosed string" and "Illegal characters in path". We have checked our code and there are no extra characters in the code but for some reason an extra apostrophe and percent sign are being added to the querystring:
Context: /request-info/event-register.aspx
Error message: System.Xml.XPath.XPathException: This is an unclosed string.
