Hello folks,
The scenario:
I have built several ASP.Net applications (products that we sell and either host ourselves or can be installed on client environments). Each of them will be configured to utilize Forms Authentication and the built in MembershipProvider and RoleProvider.
The goal:
I would like to allow multiple applications to share the same Users but each have a different set of Roles. Bassically, I wish to emulate a single sign on (SSO) concept.
I recall reading a post a while back that mentioned it might be possible. The idea they had was to set the "ApplicationName" property for the Membership provider to a globaly shared name (such as "YourCompany.")
But configure a unique "ApplicationName" for the RoleManager provider for each application.
However, I don't think this is possible.
