how can i do this, popup window?

Hey,

I have seen this done before on many websites. lets say i allow users to edit something. how can i enable a popup window to appear instead of taking the user to a separate edit page..

So basically when a user clicks edit a popup window appears where they can edit and click submit.

How can i do this?

Any examples please..?
