When the SQL Server Installation center opens, I select New installation or add features to existing installation. Then I get to the lisence terms and select next. Next the setup support files opens and then closes and that ends the installation.
I have uninstalled everything and removed the following from an email I found with a similar issue; Although I did not perform step 8 as I could not find where or how to use or obtain the
Windows Cleanup Utility.
To uninstall SQL Server 2008, try the following steps:
1. Make sure you have administrative rights on the computer
2. Uninstall the existing SQL Server 2008 and all the components from the control panel. Remember to backup the user databases before uninstalling SQL Server.
3. Backup the registry.
4. Delete the following keys in regedit:
--HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
--HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MS ...
