Hi Guys,
I believe the Mime Type definitions are part of Operating System Kernel. I am developing a website with File Uploading feature.
For different tasks in website, it expects certain Mime types (word, excel, powerpoint file) for the task. When the file is uploaded it compares the Mime Type from Browser with that in the database. We have following three Mime Types in database
- application/msword
- application/vnd.ms-excel
- application/vnd.ms-powerpoint
However, for the same word files some times I am getting application/octet-stream from the different Browsers. Its kind of random as I have faced it very hard to reproduce the problem at times.
I can able to open the file (Word/Excel) fine, but the client browser is erroring as a different mime type.
Can any body help me where I went wrong?
And by the way I am using FileUpload control to upload the files.
Thanks in Advance. ...
