I am currently using the following code (at bottom of this post), to create a folder (if non-existant) with the users logon name as the folder name. Inside the folder i create or overwrite an excel doc for exporting data (also, if non-existant). I would like to use this same concept to create a data document, to save a users settings.
If a user hides a column (cbColumnName.Checked = False) then i want to write a line to this data file such as "ColumnName HIDE"
i then want to retreave this data on page load, to see which columns that user wants to see. so this way the following day or week when they return, their settings are saved.
My questions about this matter are:
1) what type of file is best for this? txt, dat, etc..etc..?
2) how do you read that file, and search for a specific string of text to read
3) how would i write over that file?
