Im looking to hide a portion of text field as with password fields as you enter the information..
I need to gather social on our page, besides some additional security measures that our network department and other programmers assisting are implementing..for someone sitting down to complete this page, as they enter the number, i woudl like to display ** or XX or whatever in place of the number being entered.
for the backend, i woudl still pass the actual number to the database, but visually on the page it needs to be masked / hidden..
Ex.
on the back the value would be passed in like 123456987
on the screen when its being typed in it would look like this XXXXX6987
Id like to be able to do this on the fly.. i guess it coudl be done easily if i split the number into 3 text fields.. and setting two of them to password type to hide..
is that the only option? and if it is.. is there a way to change the **** to ...
