I am dealing with multiple Excel files that is really huge and it does not have common structure. So when i upload the data to server i am having performance issues. I am trying to use SSIS but becuase the structure of Excel is not fixed so i dont know how to use SSIS so i am using the normal web interface to read the xml and convert it into xml and store it in the database.
Due to its huge volume my sql server throws exception or sometime it times out.. so what is the best way to do this.
1) what is the advantages of storing it in SQL as XML? any performance gains?
2) or should i store each row in the data base as a row in a table i am seeing multiple database call in this case. is it ok if i make 20000 calls to upload a excel sheet of 20000 rows?
