Access to path ? Denied

 I have a function that works, however when I try to write to the root of my c drive or any folder I get the Access to the Path ???? is Denied.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this?
'Create the xml file to check what we are receiving.
            dsct.WriteXml("C:\DataExample.xml")
