ASP form to download a "file"

Hi,
I need to write a "form" that downloads a "file" that is first extracted from an sql database.
 
The problem is that every  example I find refers to returning the name of a file on disk and letting the underpinning layer do the transfer.
 
What I have is the binary content of and "image" file stored in an SQL database.  So I can extract the byte array byte[] from the sql, but then how do I prepare this for the "response.Writefile()" to send off the image?
 
Every example I find refers to passing a filename to response.writefile( filename ).
