Using CreateUser ContinueButtonClick Event to save into Profile

I'm using the CreateUser ContinueButtonClick Event to access the Profile for the newly created user and put some items into his Profile. This is earliest point I've found to do this. However, if the Continue Button doesn't get clicked, the user is created but not all the Profile items are set. I' like to get this info set as soon as the user is created.

Any thoughts are appreciated.
