hi, I come from a main frame background so this may be a simple question and i'm not seeing it.
I can see the functionality of calling c# or vb programs on the server from a web page (javascript). Compiled code does have faster processing, better error handling capabilities, etc.
When they use the term asyncronous processing, are they just talking about executing a routine that is not executed in the same location (i.e. web page ( or client) and the server, javascript to C# etc), where there is a disconnect between the two processes.
I'm not seeing (except in very limited cases) where a web page would want to execute a process and not wait for it's completion before going on? That is where my confusion lies. It may be just a definition problem.
any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. thanks
