Patient management workflow

Hi,
  How the windows workflow is ued to maintain the patients information. What are the stages in it. what events we can incorporate in to the workflow. what states are possible in workflow? how the events occur from the host application. Lets suppose we have the ASP.Net web application, through which patients are sending the events to workflow? Ca anyone provide me some ideas on this application.
