Having an issue using System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement PrincipalContext with ContextType.Domain after upgrade from 2000 to 2003 Active Directory. Using ASP.NET 3.5 with AJAX and 3.5 framework. Client OS is XP and the guest account is disabled. When the server was at 2000, the ValidateCredential function return true when the username and password were valid. Tested other scenarios such as bad password, account locked, etc. and received the expected results. However, after the upgrade to 2003 on the server, the ValidateCredential when call the first time returns FALSE. Called it immediately a second time (one line of code after the other), the function returned TRUE. Why is this happening? I switched to ContextType.Machine and immediately get the results I am looking for. Again, what is possibly occuring with ContextType.Domain?
