server side validation

Hi!

I made a client-side validation with the asp.net validation controls. this kind of validation is being made on key up. when i turned off the javscipt on the browser I realizzed that the same validation occured

 after I Press the submit button. How come the js validation still occures? are those validators actualy doing server side validation (when the js is offf?)
