how do I get the security answer programatically?

I need to write my own security question/answer validation since I can't use the PasswordRecovery control (UI requirements combine UserName and Question/Anwer on the same page).  Unfortunately, the UpmMembershipProvider doesn't support the GetPassword function (which uses the question answer in order to validate).  Is there any other way I can programatically receieve the security answer to validate against one that was entered on the page.
