membership provider profile vs my own custom profile

Hello guys,

We are migrating an existing database written in classic ASP to .net.

However .net's memebership provider, I must say in my own opinion seems quite annoying and difficult to use, ie you cant sort multiple users based on an sql script

OR AM I WRONG HERE ?

If not, we want to stick to our previous table, but my question is, how do you integrate it with other applications that utilize MS ASPNET_MEMEBERSHIP Profile Provider ???

Any Advice will be appreciated.
