Whilst installing SQL Server Express R2 sp1, the install wizard stops at the installation stage then displays "Managed SQL Server Installer has stopped working" and wjhen "ok" is pressed it fails to move onto the "setup support rules" stage of the installation.
The logs were checked and no error or failure exists
The following components are installed:
Windows 7 sp1 64bit
.NET Framwork 4
Windows Installer 5
This is a fresh install so there are no other versions of SQL to uniinstall
Have installed SQL Server Express R2 on several Windows XP serveral times without any issues but this is the first Windows 7 OS which this has been attempted
Is this a bug which requires a workaround?
