People are able to hit my site via either the domain (http://mysite.com) or the www sub-domain (http://www.mysite.com).
I'm trying to figure out whether I need to buy a wildcard certificate or just a sub-domain (e.g. www) certificate, given that users browse to my site using both the domain and sub-domain. Or does it matter?
If I buy a certificate explicitly for www.mysite.com (instead of a wildcard), and someone browses to my site using the the
root domain, what will happen when they browse to a page that needs to be secured? Or would I need to explicitly declare the link to the secured page using the "www" prefix? Since the wildcard domain is a bit more expensive, I don't want to buy it
if I don't have to. But I also don't want to deal with a headache if not buying it can cause issues. Thanks.
