I am facing this problem while enabling the user 'sa' on my SQL Server 2008 Express.
I have seen this post: cannot set a credential for principal 'sa' - MSDN Search
The above link suggests that I should check the 'Map to Credentials' check box. I did that, but no positive outcome.
I further saw that the credentials dropdown did not contain any credentials, so I created one credential myself and added that credential for user 'sa', but the issue was still there.
Please contact me for further information (if I could provide any).
