I have a div element that contains a grid view. A user can select an item from the gridview and it will populate a textbox with the a value from the selected row. Currently, I am using a multiview to contain the div/gridview, then hiding/showing it by setting the activeviewindex. It acts as a sort of popup window, and it works. Now, I want to get rid of the multiview and use jquery to display the gridview as a modal dialog, but I cannot get the gridview to persist between postbacks (needed because there are search and paging features in it). I thought an update panel would allow me to just postback the contents of the DIV container with the gridview, but it isn't working. The entire page gets posted back and the div is hidden again.
Is there anyway to persist a container element between postbacks?
