how to compare two string values

Hi,

I have one problem ,That isi haveto take startdate and enddate but i have to compare enddate and system date,how to compare this i wrote some code bue i get some error,

below my code.

string systemdate=DateTime.Today.Date.ToShortDateString();

string enddate;

if(enddate <= systemdate)

i have to take two string values,how to compare these two string values
