Questions about redirecting page errors.

Currently I have set my custom error to redirect for 404 errors. It works fine for URL like this:
correct page:
overview.aspx
if i change overview.aspx to overview22.aspx
it works. But it doesn't work for overview.asp, overview.html, or overview
Can ASP handle that or is this a server side thing?
